Living Legacy

Tepa Village

Benin Republic — West Africa

Moshope dreamed beyond himself. He once imagined going into the future, finding answers to humanity’s deepest problems, and bringing those solutions back to make life better for others. He did not live to make that journey. His heart stayed fixed on lifting people he would never meet.

In Tepa Village, Benin Republic, West Africa, and other villages around it, women and children could walk up to six kilometers — almost four miles round trip — for water that was unsafe to drink. On July 13, 2026, that changed. A solar-powered, motorized borehole with an elevated storage tank and a public tap stand was commissioned, a gift bearing a simple plaque: “Don de Moshope.” It now supplies clean water to Tepa’s roughly 2,000 residents daily.

"Water changes far more than thirst."

When clean water is closer to home, women and children carry less physical weight and spend less time walking, waiting, and searching. Children gain more time for school and play. Adults recover hours for farming, trading, cooking, work, and family. Households gain a more reliable source for drinking, food preparation, and hygiene, while the community becomes more resilient when shallow or seasonal sources decline.

"This is more than a borehole. It is time returned to families, burdens lifted from shoulders, dignity restored to daily life, and hope made visible in water."

Moshope dreamed of a better world. In Tepa, that dream is now a living reality. His life carried purpose; his dream continues to create impact. In Tepa, it now runs through a tap — and it still speaks. Every container filled in Tepa carries a simple, enduring message: Moshope's life still speaks.

WHEN WATER WAS A RISK

Before Moshope’s clean-water borehole was installed, residents relied on visibly cloudy, sediment-laden water for everyday household needs. What should have been a basic necessity was instead a daily struggle for water that was neither clear nor reassuring, underscoring the urgent need for a dependable source of clean water.

CLEAN WATER. RENEWED HOPE.

Moshope Borehole Project — Tepa Village, Benin Republic, West Africa

Today, families in Tepa Village gather with joy to collect clean water from the Moshope Borehole. What was once a daily struggle has become a dependable source of water, dignity, and hope for the community.
